DSLR hotshoe microphone solution the Sony XLR K1M Adapter Kit with Microphone
In order to have proper XLR microphone inputs on smaller DSLR style cameras such as the Sony A7s, you need a specially made DSLR hotshoe microphone adapter. This makes the A7s camera (or other compatible Sony cameras such as the AX100) far better for documentary style shooting. It turns the camera into a true single-system picture and sound recorder. You don’t need outboard powering for a mic, pre-amps, or separate recorders like a Zoom H6, which can lead to more complex post-production, requiring sound syncing your rushes.
We think this version is a bit more useful to use than the K2M version as the hotshoe is flexible allowing you to sit the unit on a camera cage rather than directly on the camera hotshoe itself.
