Canon XC10 A new concept from Canon.
The Canon XC10 is a compact, lightweight, portable hybrid camera that offers incredible filming flexibility with a high end DSLR stills camera. The perfect choice for the self-shooting APs on reality TV! The Canon XC10 comes fitted with a 24-240 manual zoom lens with a built in image stabilizer. It’s a versatile design with a rotating side handle containing much of the button functionality, such as it is: On/Off, playback, record, mode wheel and menu. A LCD touch screen gives you the picture information and other functions at your fingertips. The camera comes with a viewfinder attachment to clip onto the LCD for shooting in bright daylight and better eye level shooting. The lens contains built in ND filter accessed through the menu.
The XC10 can take two types of recording media, utilising CFast 2.0 cards for 4K recording and SD cards for HD and stills.
The camera provides great images using a powerful combination of a specially developed 1inch CMOS sensor and Canon’s new DIGIC DV5 image processor. It delivers rich colours and with high ISO of up to 20,000, ensures excellent results in low light conditions. It boasts a 12-stop Wide Dynamic Range, providing vivid detail in both highlights and shadows. The lens stops between 2.8 – 5.6, the settings accessed via the touchscreen.
Canon like the idea that you can switch quickly between shooting high-quality video and taking 12 MP stills with this camera. Plus you can easily take stills grabs (at 8.29 MP) from your video footage. There is certainly some merit to this functionality, and the XC10 provides a powerful all in one solution.
